The Alema of Warri Kingdom, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan has called on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, to focus more and pay attention to kitchen responsibilities rather than political or regional affairs.
Speaking at a public event in Warri, Delta State, the traditional ruler accused the First Lady of interfering in issues relating to the Itsekiri nation and broader developments in the Niger Delta region.
He argued that the First Lady had no formal role within the structure of the presidency and questioned her involvement in what he described as local political matters.

Uduaghan maintained that the First Lady’s responsibilities should be confined to domestic activities and that her home should not involve herself on issues that are beyond her scope as a woman.
“Remi Tinubu has no place in the Office of the President,” he said. “Her responsibility should be limited to her family. She should take care of her husband and children.”
He further added that she should “be in the kitchen taking care of her husband,” comments that have sparked backlash due to their gendered tone and implication.
The monarch also referenced ongoing insecurity in parts of the country, including kidnappings reported in some regions, questioning what he described as the First Lady’s response to affected families.
He argued that national challenges such as insecurity should elicit greater empathy and involvement from public figures, particularly those in influential positions.
“Children are being kidnapped in Osun State and the northern part of Nigeria,” he said. “As a mother, she has no feelings. Is that the woman who calls herself a mother?”

Uduaghan also expressed frustration over what he described as interference in Warri-related affairs, suggesting tensions over local political and ethnic issues remain unresolved.
“We’re not mincing words at this point; we’re tired of the nonsense from the Itsekiris,” he added.
Neither the First Lady nor the Presidency had issued an official response at the time of reporting.
