United States President, Donald Trump has claimed that recent missile strikes authorised by his administration in Nigeria helped reduce attacks on Christian communities and weakened terrorist groups operating in the country.
Speaking at an event in Washington on Friday, Trump said the military operation significantly curtailed the killing of Christians, alleging that thousands had been targeted before the strikes.
According to him, the operation eliminated key terrorist leaders and served as a deterrent against further attacks.

Trump said the United States remained committed to protecting Christians around the world through decisive military action against terrorist organisations.
Drawing a comparison with U.S. policy toward Iran, the President said both actions were aimed at preventing greater security threats.
He also warned against threats to religious freedom, stressing that the United States would continue to confront extremist groups wherever they operate.
The U.S. President did not provide further details of the alleged military operation in Nigeria during his remarks.
