The United States military has carried out another strike on a vessel suspected of transporting illegal drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in the death of one man, while two others reportedly survived.

The operation was confirmed by U.S. Southern Command, which said the strike targeted a fast-moving boat identified as part of ongoing anti-narcotics operations in international waters.

Video footage released by the command and shared on social media showed a vessel speeding across the water before being engulfed in flames following the impact of the strike. Officials said the U.S. Coast Guard was immediately alerted to initiate search and rescue efforts for the surviving individuals.

The latest incident adds to a series of similar operations carried out since September 2025, during which at least 194 people have reportedly been killed in strikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific regions.

The U.S. government has maintained that the targeted vessels are linked to drug cartels responsible for trafficking narcotics into American communities, contributing to the ongoing opioid crisis.

However, authorities have not publicly provided evidence confirming that the vessels destroyed in the operations were carrying illicit drugs.

The Pentagon’s inspector general recently announced a review into the military’s targeting procedures to determine whether established operational frameworks were followed during the strikes. The review will examine the decision-making process behind the operations but will not assess their legality.

The U.S. administration has defended the campaign, describing it as part of a broader effort to combat Latin American drug cartels, which it accuses of fueling drug-related deaths in the United States.
