United States immigration authorities have deported a Nigerian national, Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, following multiple criminal convictions and immigration violations, according to officials.

The development was disclosed by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which stated that Ajayi remained in the country unlawfully after entering the United States on a student visa in 2007.

According to the agency, Ajayi initially arrived in the U.S. to pursue his studies but failed to leave the country after discontinuing his education, thereby violating the terms of his visa.

ICE said the Nigerian national later accumulated a criminal record that included convictions for offences such as domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction.

The agency also noted that his record contained additional charges, including kidnapping, rape, and family neglect, although it did not provide further details regarding the status of those allegations or the jurisdictions where the cases were handled.

In a statement shared on its official social media platform, ICE linked the deportation to the U.S. government’s ongoing immigration enforcement efforts targeting undocumented immigrants with criminal records.

Authorities, however, did not specify the exact date the deportation was carried out or disclose additional information about the removal process.

The case comes amid continued immigration enforcement operations across the United States, where federal agencies have intensified efforts to identify, detain, and remove non-citizens found to be in violation of immigration laws, particularly those with criminal convictions.

Officials say such actions form part of broader measures aimed at strengthening immigration compliance and public safety enforcement across the country.
