The United Nations Youth Association Nigeria has announced a significant influx of interest from young Nigerians, revealing that it has received over 5,000 applications from prospective members seeking to join the organisation.

In an official statement released by its President, Eze Ihechukwumere Ezekiel, the association confirmed that applicants submitted key documents, including Statements of Purpose and updated Curriculum Vitae, as part of the registration process. The leadership noted that a comprehensive screening exercise is currently underway to evaluate all submissions before approvals are granted.

The organisation emphasised that only complete applications will be considered, warning that it will not respond to requests sent via WhatsApp that do not include the required documentation. This move, according to the statement, is aimed at maintaining professionalism and ensuring a transparent selection process.

Reiterating its commitment to accessibility, UNYA-Nigeria clarified that applying to become a United Nations Volunteer in Nigeria is entirely free of charge. However, the association outlined that prospective members who gain approval must secure the full membership portfolio to transition into fully registered members of the organisation.

The statement further explained that obtaining the complete membership portfolio is optional for individuals who may not wish to fully align themselves with the organisation, even after successful registration and approval on the UN Volunteers platform.

In a bid to encourage wider participation, the association stressed that membership is open to all Nigerian youths, regardless of their location. Applicants from across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and even Nigerians living abroad are eligible to apply.
