Ukraine and Russia have exchanged the bodies of soldiers killed in the ongoing war, marking one of the few areas where the two sides continue to cooperate.

Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said on Thursday that Russia had returned the remains of 261 people believed to be Ukrainian servicemen.

Russian media, citing a lawmaker, also reported that Moscow received 24 bodies from Ukraine as part of the exchange.

Kyiv has previously accused Russia of including the remains of civilians and Russian soldiers in similar exchanges.

The transfer of fallen soldiers’ remains, along with the exchange of prisoners of war, remains one of the few areas where Russia and Ukraine have been able to reach agreements despite the prolonged conflict.
