United States President Donald Trump has threatened to stop Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier from selling its planes in the US market unless the company begins manufacturing its aircraft within the United States.
Trump made the statement in a social media post on Monday, accusing Bombardier of taking advantage of the American market and demanding that the company establish production facilities in the country if it wants continued access to US customers.
“NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!” Trump wrote, adding that companies seeking access to the American market must “build here.”
The comments come amid renewed trade tensions between Washington and Ottawa, with both countries involved in a dispute over tariffs and market access. The United States has imposed trade measures targeting Canadian products, while Canada has announced retaliatory actions affecting billions of dollars worth of US goods.
This is not the first time Trump has targeted Bombardier. Earlier in 2026, he threatened possible tariffs on Canadian aircraft and raised concerns over aircraft certification issues involving US rival Gulfstream.
Bombardier, which has a significant customer base in the United States, did not immediately respond to requests for comment following Trump’s latest statement.
The proposed action could affect major private jet operators that rely on Bombardier aircraft, including companies that have existing purchase agreements with the Canadian manufacturer.
