Troops of Operation Eastern Sanity II have dismantled a suspected criminal hideout in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, recovering motorcycles and explosive materials during a coordinated raid.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of May 23, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating that a house in Achi Town was being used as a base for suspected cultists and other criminal elements.

Military sources said troops, working in conjunction with Keystone personnel from Oji River LGA, stormed the location at about 4:30 a.m. and carried out a search of the premises.

During the raid, eight motorcycles were recovered alongside two buckets of locally fabricated gunpowder allegedly intended for criminal use.

Three suspects were also arrested in connection with the discovery. They include Mr Ozor Benjamin (85) from Isikwe Achi, Mrs Miracle Eze (26), and Mrs Ogechukwu Okorie (29), both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA.

The suspects and recovered exhibits have since been handed over to Keystone Oji River for further investigation and appropriate action.

The military described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on criminal networks in the South East and deny them freedom of action.

Troops also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing security operations in the region.
