Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), have arrested 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State.

The suspects were apprehended during a security operation conducted between June 11 and June 14, 2026, in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and neighbouring communities following credible intelligence reports.

According to the military, preliminary investigations indicated that the individuals had allegedly lived in the area for about six months without valid immigration documents.

The suspects reportedly told investigators that they were merchants and workers associated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various products.

Those arrested include 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Côte d’Ivoire, four nationals of Togo, and one national of Senegal. The group comprises 36 males and 10 females.

The military said the suspects have been handed over to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and necessary administrative action in line with existing immigration laws.

Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating security agencies for the successful operation. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.

The operation, according to the Army, reflects the commitment of security agencies to tackling illegal migration, strengthening internal security, and protecting national interests.
