President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his outstanding performance in transforming Abuja through infrastructure development.

Tinubu also expressed confidence in Wike’s ability to deliver on the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda to residents of the nation’s capital.

The President made the remarks on Thursday during the inauguration of the Old Keffi Road, stretching from Kado Fish Market to Dei-Dei, as part of activities marking his third year in office. He was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

According to Tinubu, his administration rewards competence and performance rather than political patronage.

“Under this government, we do not reward patronage; we reward competence. If you deliver, you get more work, and if you fail, you are out,” he said.

The President praised Wike for his hands-on approach to governance, noting that the FCT Minister has ensured that development projects are spread across both the city centre and the area councils.

“Mr Minister, you have turned the FCT into a site of visible results. You inspect projects, make decisions and ensure they are completed. You have matched development in the city centre with development in the districts and area councils so that no community is left behind,” Tinubu stated.

Describing Wike as “Mr Project,” the President said the minister’s achievements are evident in the roads constructed, streetlights installed and projects completed within set timelines.

“I trust you and rely on you to keep the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Abuja is better today because you are the Minister. Thank you for your discipline, your courage and your speed of delivery,” he added.

Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending the era of abandoned public projects across the country.

“When we assumed office under the Renewed Hope Agenda, we assured Nigerians that the era of abandoned projects was over. Today, that promise is becoming a reality, and there is no longer any room for doubt,” he said.
