President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja, his first FEC session since June 29, 2026.

The meeting commenced with the national anthem shortly after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30pm to lead proceedings.

Those attending the meeting include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Also present are members of the Federal Executive Council, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.

At the opening of the meeting, the council observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance during the administration of former President Ibrahim Babangida, who died on July 30, 2026.

The council also paid tribute to Prof Turner Isoun, who served as Minister of Science and Technology under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Isoun died on July 15, 2026.

At the previous FEC meeting held on June 29, after a break of more than two months, Tinubu swore in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

They were Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State.

Further details of the decisions and deliberations at Wednesday’s meeting are expected to emerge after the session.
