SUSPECTED ARMED BANDITS ABDUCT FULANI LEADER, FAMILY MEMBERS IN NIGER

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Sarkin Fulani of Betuwa in Gulbin Boka, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, alongside his son and another relative.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night when the attackers invaded the traditional ruler’s residence and took the three victims away.

Residents familiar with the incident said the gunmen left the community with the traditional leader, his son and the other family member.

Security expert Bakatsine reported the incident in a post on X on Saturday.

“Last night, bandits reportedly attacked the residence of the Sarkin Fulani of Betuwa in Gulbin Boka, Mariga LGA of Niger State,” he said.

He added that local sources reported that the attackers stormed the residence at night and abducted the traditional ruler, his son and another relative before fleeing the area.

The identities of the three victims and their whereabouts were not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.

It was also unclear whether security agencies had launched an operation to rescue the victims or apprehend the perpetrators.

The police authorities in Niger State had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
