Security forces have arrested a man suspected of providing information to bandits who allegedly demanded ₦10 million from residents of Romo village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The suspect, identified as Ashiru Abubakar of Gumfa Gebe village in Wamakko Local Government Area, was reportedly arrested over allegations that he collaborated with armed groups operating around communities in Tambuwal.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday by North-West crisis reporter Bakatsine, who said residents of Romo had allegedly been given an ultimatum to pay ₦10 million or face an attack.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged threat and the suspect’s precise role have not been independently confirmed by security authorities.
The arrest comes amid security operations targeting suspected informants and other individuals accused of providing logistical or intelligence support to armed groups operating across parts of the North-West.
