The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr Dagogo Wokoma, has called on administrators of tertiary institutions in the state to remain committed to the principles of educational development as a catalyst for societal growth and progress.
Wokoma made the call while receiving the Rector and principal officers of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic during a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt earlier today.
The SSG emphasised the critical role of education in driving sustainable development, expressing optimism that the institution would continue to expand its academic and developmental contributions.
“I believe this institution will continue to grow and become a central place of learning and development,” he said.
Earlier, the Rector of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Dr Moses Neebee, informed the SSG that several projects initiated by the Rivers State Government under Governor Siminalayi Fubara had been completed and were ready for commissioning.
Neebee also stated that the institution remains fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Ministry of Education, positioning it to make greater contributions to technical and vocational education in the country.
He appealed for continued government support to enable the institution to sustain its growth and enhance its impact on the education sector.
The rector commended Governor Fubara for fulfilling his administration’s commitments to the polytechnic through the execution of infrastructure projects and improvements in staff welfare.
“We thank His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for fulfilling his promise to the polytechnic by ensuring the execution of projects and improving the welfare of staff,” Neebee said.
The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on the continued development of the institution and the strengthening of technical education in Rivers State.
