Angela Paxton, the estranged wife of Texas Attorney General and Republican US Senate candidate Ken Paxton, has urged voters to support the Republican ticket in the November 3 midterm elections without directly naming her husband.

Angela, a Republican state senator, appealed a television campaign advert released on Saturday as the closely watched Texas Senate contest enters its final weeks.

Addressing what she described as the “elephant in the room,” Angela argued that voters should focus on keeping Republican-held offices under the party’s control rather than concentrating solely on individual candidates.

“In a general election, it’s not as much about the individual players on the team. It’s about getting the whole team across the finish line,” she said.

She added that Republicans needed to retain their seats to prevent Democrats from gaining greater political influence in Texas.

Angela filed for divorce from Ken Paxton in 2025 after 38 years of marriage, citing what she described as “biblical grounds.” Court filings indicated that the couple had been living separately for more than a year before the divorce petition.

Her latest remarks represent one of her clearest public interventions in the Senate race since her estranged husband became the Republican nominee.

Ken Paxton is facing Democratic candidate James Talarico in a competitive contest for the US Senate seat.

Recent public polling has generally shown a close race, with several surveys giving Talarico a narrow advantage, though some results remain within their respective margins of error.

The campaign ad featuring Angela was funded by Texas PAC, a political action committee supporting Paxton’s Senate campaign.

The group has spent more than $100 million supporting the Republican candidate as the party works to retain a Senate seat in a state where Republicans have dominated statewide elections for decades.

Angela had earlier delivered a similar message during a gathering of Republican women in Texas, stressing the importance of retaining the Senate seat for the party regardless of disagreements surrounding individual candidates.

Paxton defeated incumbent Senator John Cornyn during the Republican primary and has received the backing of President Donald Trump.

His political career has also faced controversy. In 2023, the Republican-controlled Texas House impeached him on allegations including abuse of office and bribery. He denied wrongdoing and was subsequently acquitted by the Texas Senate.

With the November 3 election approaching, the Paxton-Talarico contest has emerged as one of the closely watched Senate races of the 2026 midterm cycle.
