Russian President, Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit China from May 19 to 20 for high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as Moscow and Beijing seek to deepen strategic ties amid ongoing global tensions.

According to the Kremlin, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and exchange views on major international and regional issues. The visit is also expected to conclude with the signing of a joint declaration aimed at expanding bilateral relations.
Putin is further expected to hold talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on trade and economic matters, with both nations continuing efforts to strengthen economic partnerships. China has remained a key trading partner for Russia, especially following Western sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukraine conflict.

The visit comes shortly after United States President Donald Trump concluded his trip to Beijing, where discussions reportedly covered several global issues, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. However, diplomatic efforts toward ending the conflict are still facing challenges as negotiations remain at a standstill.
