The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially cleared former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke to contest as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved Duke’s candidacy after adopting the report of the Primaries Appeal Committee, which reviewed the outcomes of the party’s recent primary elections.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the PRP’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq.

According to the statement, the NWC also approved the results of the party’s governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly primaries conducted across the country.

However, the party disclosed that the primary election for the Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano State was cancelled, making it the only constituency affected by the review process.

Apart from the cancelled exercise, all candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries were cleared to participate in the 2027 general elections.

The PRP said it plans to present a total of 420 candidates for various elective positions nationwide during the 2027 polls.

“In line with our dedication to being actively involved in the election process, the PRP is proud to have 420 candidates running for all the positions in the 2027 general elections,” Ishaq stated.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and effective service delivery, stressing that its candidates were selected through a credible process.

PRP leaders also expressed confidence that the party’s candidates, including Duke, would offer Nigerians an alternative vision of leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
