More than 100 people allegedly brought into Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election have reportedly been arrested by security operatives.
The individuals, who were reportedly carrying newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), were found at the residence of Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly.
A video circulating on social media showed the alleged voters being questioned by security personnel.
In the video, Ibrahim reportedly admitted that the group had been accommodated at his residence ahead of the election.
He was also heard saying that the individuals were in the state to vote for the Accord Party.
Ibrahim represents the Irewole-Isokan Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly.
The development comes as voters across the state head to polling units to elect the next governor amid heightened security arrangements and concerns over possible electoral malpractice.
The identities and places of origin of the alleged voters, as well as the circumstances under which they obtained their PVCs, were not immediately established.
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Police Command had not officially confirmed the arrests or commented on the allegations.
The alleged incident remains subject to investigation by the relevant security and electoral authorities.
