Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, has died following a brief illness.

Sources within the palace confirmed that the respected traditional leader passed away at his residence in Ibadan. The development has reportedly prompted members of the Omo Oye group to visit the late chief’s home as part of customary proceedings following the announcement of his death.

Before his passing, Oba Isioye-Dada held the esteemed title of Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, a prominent position within the traditional chieftaincy structure of the ancient city.

His death is expected to set in motion a series of succession-related advancements within the Balogun line of the Ibadan traditional hierarchy, leading to the elevation of several chiefs and high-ranking title holders.

Among those likely to benefit from the expected reshuffle is All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Sharafadeen Ali. In accordance with the established succession system and subject to the approval of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Ali is anticipated to move from the position of Ekaarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.

Also expected to advance in rank is Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, who is projected to rise from Ekerin Balogun to the position of Asipa Balogun as the succession process progresses.
