Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an anti-kidnapping operation in Jotar Village, near the Quarantine Checkpoint.

The operation followed credible intelligence on suspected kidnapping activities, prompting troops to swiftly move to the area, where they engaged the armed suspects in a gun battle.

Military authorities said one suspected terrorist was killed, while an AK-47 rifle and two empty magazines were recovered. Preliminary findings indicate the suspect may have been linked to the recent attack on commuters in Benue State, in which a former Secretary to the State Government was injured.

The Force Commander, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to sustain operations against criminal elements, while calling on members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
