One person has reportedly died, while three adult men were rescued following the collapse of a two-storey building under construction in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday on Akinola Street, near Fadeyi Bus Stop, off Ikorodu Road.
According to a statement attributed to the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, emergency responders were deployed immediately after the agency received a distress call at approximately 12:10 a.m.

The agency’s Cobra Response Team, operating from its Onipanu base, reportedly arrived at the scene two minutes later and discovered that the building had collapsed, with construction workers suspected to be trapped beneath the debris.
Emergency personnel immediately commenced search-and-rescue operations while implementing safety measures to protect victims, responders and nearby residents.
During the operation, rescuers reportedly heard sounds from beneath the rubble, suggesting that some trapped individuals were still alive.
An excavator was subsequently deployed to assist emergency workers in clearing debris and locating victims.
Three adult males were rescued alive and received emergency medical attention from LASEMA paramedics and personnel of the Lagos State Ambulance Service before being transported to a hospital for further treatment.
One person was confirmed dead in the account provided by the emergency agency.
Other organisations involved in the rescue operation included the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Authorities said search-and-rescue efforts were continuing to determine whether additional people remained trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
The cause of the incident had not been established, with relevant regulatory authorities expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
Oke-Osanyintolu expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the rescued victims a speedy recovery.
He also reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening building inspections, construction safety and regulatory enforcement in collaboration with the Lagos State Building Control Agency.
The incident has renewed concerns about construction safety and the need for compliance with approved building standards across Lagos State.
