Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has expressed shock over the crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, and directed state agencies to provide immediate support for ongoing search and rescue operations.
The Nigerian Air Force identified the aircraft as an ATR-42 with tail number NGR 931, which was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda on Monday.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo said preliminary information indicated that 32 people were on board, comprising 25 passengers and seven crew members.

The wreckage has been located, while search and rescue operations involving the Nigerian Air Force and other emergency agencies are continuing. Authorities had not officially confirmed the condition of those on board at the time of this report.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa expressed sympathy to the Chief of the Air Staff, the Nigerian Air Force and the families of the personnel and passengers aboard the aircraft.
The governor said he had been in contact with the leadership of the Air Force, Ilaje Local Government Chairman Maurice Oripelaye and security agencies operating at the crash site.
Aiyedatiwa directed the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency, the Ministry of Health and relevant security agencies to immediately mobilise personnel and logistical resources to assist the Air Force and other emergency responders.
He also ordered that the crash area be cordoned off and secured to allow rescue teams to operate without obstruction.
Residents of Igbokoda and neighbouring communities were urged to remain calm, cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid circulating unverified information about the incident.

The Ondo State Government said it would continue monitoring developments and provide further information as confirmed updates become available from the Nigerian Air Force and other relevant authorities.
The cause of the crash had not been officially established as search and rescue operations continued.
