The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have renewed their commitment to stronger collaboration in tackling crime and enhancing national security in Rivers State.
The Rivers State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dennis Lesor Reuben, made the call on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.
The visit, according to the commandant, was aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation, improving operational coordination and fostering a more effective working relationship between both organisations.
Reuben, who was received by the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Port Harcourt Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE1) Hassan Saidu, said security agencies must regularly engage, exchange ideas and provide mutual support to effectively address emerging security challenges.
“We have decided to make time from our very tight schedule to ensure that we meet security agencies that we cannot do without in the course of our duties. We must meet, share ideas and support each other,” he said.
The NSCDC commandant stressed the importance of building strong professional relationships among frontline officers of both agencies, noting that closer cooperation would improve intelligence sharing, field operations and crime prevention efforts.
“Our doors are open for anything you think we can do to contribute to your service; please don’t hesitate to call upon us. We are also demanding your support, including capacity building and training, so that we can work together,” Reuben added.
Responding, Saidu appreciated the NSCDC leadership for the visit and reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the two agencies.
He described the relationship between the EFCC and NSCDC as critical, particularly in the areas of financial crime investigations, prosecution support and protection of recovered assets.
“There is a strong bond between the NSCDC and the EFCC; you cannot talk about one without the other. Our work cannot be complete without the NSCDC,” Saidu said.
The EFCC zonal director commended the NSCDC for its role in safeguarding assets recovered from individuals involved in financial crimes, including seized vessels and real estate properties.
He noted that the Corps’ support helps ensure that proceeds of crime are preserved and successfully forfeited to the Federal Government.
Saidu further reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to continuous inter-agency training, intelligence cooperation and operational collaboration, stressing that unity among security agencies remains essential for national security and the development of Rivers State and Nigeria.
“All of us are working for the interest and security of the country. Even with specialised mandates, no agency can do it alone. When we unify ourselves and understand our scope, the country moves forward,” he said.
