The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Akwa Ibom State Branch, has elected a new State Officers’ Committee (SOC) to pilot the affairs of the association for the 2026–2028 tenure, with a pledge to promote peace, unity and the welfare of medical practitioners across the state.
The new executive emerged at the end of the Association’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in accordance with the provisions of the NMA Constitution.
Leading the newly elected executive is Dr Tiemah Ntiense Akpabio as Chairman, while Dr Enobong Mkpang-Uko was elected Vice Chairman.
Other members of the executive include Dr Ndifreke Ataide as Secretary, Dr Gabriel Eyo as Assistant Secretary, Dr Okoiseh Oku Samuel as Treasurer, Dr Enyekekere Edet as Financial Secretary, Dr Utomobong Udo as Public Relations Officer, Prof. Anyiekere Morgan as Editor of the Ibom Medical Journal, Dr Aniekan Peter as Ex-Officio I, and Dr Edesiri Ighorodje as Ex-Officio II.
In his acceptance remarks, the newly elected Chairman, Dr Tiemah Ntiense Akpabio, pledged to foster peace and unity within the Association while prioritising the welfare of members and strengthening the NMA’s role in advancing quality healthcare delivery in Akwa Ibom State.
The Association congratulated the newly elected officers on their emergence and expressed confidence in their ability to provide purposeful leadership over the next two years.
The NMA also commended members for their active participation and peaceful conduct throughout the Annual General Meeting and election, describing the process as a demonstration of the Association’s commitment to democracy, professionalism and unity.
The Association reaffirmed its resolve to continue promoting the interests of medical practitioners while supporting policies and initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
