Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), Leye Falade, has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, for what he described as remarkable strides in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.

Falade gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the top management team of NLNG to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

He praised the EFCC chairman for his courage, commitment and resilience in tackling economic sabotage and financial crimes across the country.

“I want to acknowledge the great strides that have been made in the fight against economic sabotage and financial crimes. I want to personally, on behalf of the company, appreciate your tenacity, courage and commitment,” Falade said.

According to him, the anti-corruption drive of the Commission has contributed significantly to promoting accountability and creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

“We recognise the environment in which you work, we know things are tough. This is an appreciation for what you’re doing to help us have some sanity and hygiene in what we do and how we do things,” he added.

Falade disclosed that NLNG had entrenched strong internal governance systems and ethical standards aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and compliance with regulations both locally and internationally.

“We are guided by ethics and ethos that will not only stand in Nigeria, but outside the country. We are proud to say that as a company we will continue to be above board,” he stated.

Responding, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede expressed appreciation for the visit and applauded NLNG for maintaining ethical standards over the years.

He noted the strategic importance of the oil and gas sector to Nigeria’s economy and pledged continued collaboration between the Commission and the company.

“Our mandate is not only to enforce, but we also prevent, collaborate and create awareness. We are always willing to collaborate with corporate entities like yours that contribute substantially towards the GDP of Nigeria,” Olukoyede said.

The EFCC boss revealed that the Commission established the Fraud Risk Assessment and Control (FRAC) Department about two years ago to help Ministries, Departments and Agencies identify and reduce fraud risks.

“With FRAC, we go into the MDAs, look into their fraud risks and see how we can work with them to ensure that we reduce such risks,” he explained.

Olukoyede further assured NLNG of the Commission’s support in addressing any internal compromise capable of leading to fraudulent activities.
