The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has declared that Nigeria’s next president has already been determined by divine will, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Saturday during a workers’ meeting at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye said the outcome of the election ultimately rests with God and not solely on human effort.

“The next president has already been decided by God, who owns the universe,” he said. “It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done.”

The prominent cleric urged Nigerians not to be anxious about political developments, emphasising that God remains sovereign over the nation’s future. While encouraging civic participation, he maintained that divine authority supersedes human decisions.

“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” Adeboye added.

He called on citizens to remain peaceful and prayerful as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the elections.

“We should do our part, but we should also keep on praying and trusting God,” he said.

Adeboye also addressed remarks attributed to fellow cleric Isaac Omolehin, who reportedly described him, Bishop David Oyedepo, and Pastor William Kumuyi as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.” He rejected the characterisation, clarifying that leadership of Christians in the country rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria.

“I don’t want to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria,” he said. “I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That’s enough assignments for me. The CAN President is the leader of Christians in Nigeria.”

The RCCG leader also dismissed allegations circulating on social media that the church is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress, insisting that the church remains non-partisan while speaking on national issues, including economic hardship.

On civic engagement, Adeboye noted that he would participate in any peaceful protest sanctioned by CAN over governance concerns, stressing that his stance is guided by principle rather than politics. He referenced his past involvement in protests during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He further stated that while politicians are free to attend church services at the Redemption Camp, they would not be allowed to use the altar for political campaigning.
