Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lokoja, have intensified ongoing operations against criminal networks in Kogi State, recording significant breakthroughs in the disruption of suspected terrorist logistics activities across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the operations conducted over the past three months led to the interception of suspected logistics couriers and the recovery of firearms and ammunition within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

In one of the operations along the Jamata–Owara axis in Lokoja Local Government Area, troops reportedly intercepted a suspected logistics courier riding a motorcycle.

A subsequent search of the motorcycle revealed a concealed compartment allegedly designed for the covert transportation of ammunition and other illicit materials. Preliminary investigations, according to the Army, indicate possible links between the suspect and known terrorist elements.

In a separate operation carried out on 20 April 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence mounted a snap checkpoint at Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba road. During the exercise, a Toyota bus travelling from Makurdi towards Obajana was intercepted.

A search of the vehicle led to the arrest of two suspected logistics couriers identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi. Recovered from the vehicle was a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, alongside three AK-47 rifle magazines, which were reportedly hidden behind the driver’s seat.

The Army spokesperson further stated that the suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the Military Intelligence Regiment for detailed investigation and subsequent action.

The 12 Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to sustained offensive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist supply chains and enhancing security across Kogi State and surrounding areas.
