The Nigerian Army’s 1 Division has honoured four personnel retiring from service at a send-off ceremony held at the division’s auditorium in Kaduna.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, was hosted by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Wase.
According to a post on the Nigerian Army’s X account on Thursday, the event was organised to recognise the retirees for their years of service, loyalty and sacrifice to the nation.
Wase commended the retiring personnel for what he described as their steadfast commitment and contributions to the Nigerian Army.
He said the ceremony reflected the strong bond and esprit de corps among personnel, noting that such relationships extended beyond military ranks.
The GOC said the recognition was also part of the Army’s established tradition of appreciating personnel who had served the country meritoriously.
Wase urged the retirees to carefully manage and invest their retirement benefits as they transition into civilian life.
He assured them that they would remain part of the Nigerian Army family and encouraged them to maintain their relationship with the military community while upholding the discipline and standards associated with their service.
Those honoured were Master Warrant Officer Ladi Mustapha of Headquarters 1 Division; Master Warrant Officer Oche Sunday, Chief Clerk, Headquarters 1 Division; Warrant Officer Obile Mu’azu of Headquarters 1 Division; and Oyagha Theophilus of 1 Division Finance.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, MWO Oche Sunday expressed appreciation to the GOC and the leadership of the division for allowing them the opportunity to serve.
He also thanked the command for the guidance, mentorship and support they received throughout their careers.
Sunday said the experiences and memories gained during their years in service would remain valuable as they began a new phase of their lives.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of gifts and souvenirs to the retirees, followed by group photographs to mark their retirement.
