The Nigerian Army has held a farewell ceremony for discharged Master Warrant Officers of the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, marking the end of their active military service.

The ceremony, held at the institution’s conference room, was attended by the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Usman Ahmad, alongside principal staff officers and heads of departments.

Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Depot Nigerian Army, Chikadibia Anele, said the ceremony provided an opportunity to recognise the personnel for their years of service to the Army and the country.

Addressing the discharged personnel, Ahmad urged them to maintain peaceful relationships with residents of the communities where they choose to settle and continue to uphold the values of the Nigerian Army.

He encouraged them to remain productive after leaving active service and to engage in hobbies and other activities that would help them maintain their physical fitness.

The Commandant also urged the former soldiers to continue contributing positively to their communities and remain good ambassadors of the Army.

On behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Ahmad thanked the discharged Master Warrant Officers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Responding on behalf of the discharged personnel, outgoing Regimental Sergeant Major of the institution, Master Warrant Officer Joshua Agwaru, thanked the Commandant for his mentorship and guidance.

Agwaru said the discharged personnel remained willing to serve the Army and the country in other capacities whenever their experience was required.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from officers, the presentation of souvenirs and gifts to the discharged personnel, and group photographs.
