The Federal Government says Nigeria is deepening economic cooperation with the European Union (EU) as both partners prepare for the 10th Nigeria–EU Business Forum scheduled to hold in Lagos on June 25, 2026.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, said the forum will serve as a key platform for strengthening investment relations, expanding trade opportunities and promoting long-term economic development between Nigeria and Europe.

In a statement issued ahead of the event by the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Bagudu described the forum as an important avenue for engaging investors, building partnerships and advancing initiatives aimed at improving enterprise development and economic competitiveness.

According to him, Nigeria remains committed to creating a stable environment that encourages sustainable growth and attracts both local and foreign investment.

The minister noted that the Nigeria–EU Business Forum provides a structured platform for dialogue between government officials, private sector leaders, development partners and international investors.

The upcoming edition is expected to bring together stakeholders from Nigeria and Europe to explore new opportunities for cooperation across key sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, digital innovation and sustainable development.

Organisers said discussions at the forum will focus on mobilising private capital, strengthening economic value chains and supporting businesses with the potential to scale across African and European markets.

The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, said the forum has become an effective platform for turning economic plans into practical investment outcomes.

He added that the 10th edition reflects a shared commitment by both sides to attract large-scale investment and deliver measurable economic impact.

Over the years, the Nigeria–EU Business Forum has evolved into a major engagement platform for policymakers and private sector actors, helping to strengthen trade relations and support investment flows between both regions.

The European Union remains one of Nigeria’s most significant economic partners, with cooperation spanning multiple sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, infrastructure development and digital economy initiatives.

According to organisers, this year’s edition will build on previous outcomes by creating new investment pipelines, encouraging policy dialogue and promoting innovation-driven growth.
