Moniepoint Microfinance Bank and financial technology company TeamApt have partnered to expand retail participation in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
The companies said the partnership would enable more Nigerians to access the offer through Moniepoint’s digital banking platforms and its nationwide network of point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
Under the arrangement, customers can subscribe to the IPO through Moniepoint agent locations using POS terminals, bringing the investment opportunity closer to customers in communities across the country.
Moniepoint MFB and TeamApt are both subsidiaries of the Moniepoint Group, with each company playing a different role in the initiative.
Moniepoint MFB is providing its customer base and distribution network, while TeamApt is providing the technology infrastructure for processing transactions.
Babatunde Olofin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, said the initiative was aimed at making investment opportunities more accessible to Nigerians.

“Moments like this are exactly why we built Moniepoint the way we did,” Mr Olofin said.
He said access to financial services should extend beyond everyday transactions to include opportunities for individuals to invest and build wealth.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO gives Nigerians a chance to participate in the growth of a significant Nigerian business,” he said.
According to him, making the offer available through Moniepoint’s POS network would enable more people, including market traders, artisans and first-time investors, to participate.
Dennis Ajalie, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TeamApt, said the company’s payment infrastructure was being used to connect the capital market opportunity with a broad retail distribution network.
“For years, we have been building the rails that quietly power finance across Nigeria, and this is a glimpse of what those rails were built for,” Mr Ajalie said.

He said the partnership would allow retail investors to access the offering through channels already familiar to them.
“Our technology is connecting a major capital-markets opportunity to a distribution network that reaches millions, making it possible for retail participation to happen through channels that are already part of everyday life,” he said.
The companies described the partnership as an effort to broaden retail participation in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO by using digital banking and agent-based channels.
