Former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress, expressing support for the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Mimiko registered with the ruling party at Ward 7 in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, where he was received by party executives, supporters, and top APC leaders, including the state chairman, Babatunde Kolawole.
Speaking during the event, the former governor said his decision to join the APC was informed by what he described as positive reforms being implemented by the Tinubu-led administration across key sectors of the economy.

According to him, although more work still needs to be done, the current administration has taken commendable steps toward national development, peace, and progress.
Mimiko particularly praised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund initiative for improving access to education and also commended ongoing efforts to decentralise policing, stressing his long-standing support for state police.
The former governor had resigned from the People’s Democratic Party over a month ago after months of political inactivity within the party.
Welcoming him into the APC, Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, described Mimiko as a committed progressive with notable achievements in health, education, and infrastructure during his time as governor.
Also speaking, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, said Mimiko’s defection marked the complete movement of his political structure into the APC ahead of future elections.

The event was attended by several party stakeholders and government officials, including the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, commissioners, former political office holders, and party leaders across the state.
