The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has donated a total of ₦6 million and assorted food items to two families in Zamfara State following the deaths of their loved ones.
The donations were presented separately to the families of the late Sanusi Lilo, who died in a road accident along the Kaduna-Zaria Road, and Alhaji Aminu Matawalle Yandoto, whose wife, Hajiya Zainab, recently passed away.
According to a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the Matawalle Political Standing Committee (MPSC), Malam Yusuf Idris Salisu, each family received ₦3 million alongside food supplies.

The items presented to each family included 10 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize, 10 cartons of spaghetti, 10 cartons of macaroni and two jerrycans of groundnut oil.
The statement explained that the donations were delivered on behalf of the minister by a delegation led by the committee’s chairman, Builder Ibrahim Isa Mayana.
During the condolence visits, Matawalle expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith during their period of mourning.
He described death as an inevitable part of human existence and urged the families to find comfort in their religious beliefs.
The minister also offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to grant them forgiveness and eternal rest while giving their relatives the strength to bear their losses.
According to the statement, representatives of both families expressed appreciation for the financial and material assistance, describing the gesture as a source of encouragement during a difficult period.

They also offered prayers for the minister’s continued well-being and success in his responsibilities.
The delegation included Alhaji Yahaya Chado Gora, Hon. Muhammad Umar Birnin Magaji, Hon. Aminu Sulaiman Yarkofoji, Hon. Musa Bawa Musa, Hon. Sanusi Sarki, Hon. Abubakar Mohammad Daura, Hon. Aliyu Sani Bk, Engr. Nura Makashe Maradun, and Hon. Abdulhamid Mamanu.
The condolence visits formed part of the minister’s outreach to the affected families, with the donations intended to provide immediate financial and household support following their bereavements.
