The Lagos State High Court has concluded hearings in the trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV chief executive Usifo Ataga.

At the Wednesday sitting, the court conducted a cross-examination of the defendant’s elder sister, Chioma Egbuchu, who had earlier testified on Monday.

She was questioned by lawyers representing the defence and other parties in the case, including counsel to Chidinma Ojukwu, counsel to co-defendant Adedapo Quadri, and counsel representing the witness herself.

Following the cross-examination, Justice Yetunde Adesanya directed all parties involved in the matter to file their final written addresses within 21 days each. The court further granted an additional seven days for responses to be submitted after the final addresses.

Justice Adesanya subsequently fixed September 24 for the adoption of final written addresses. After this stage, the court will proceed to set a date for judgment.

Under Nigerian law, the judge is expected to deliver judgment within 90 days of the conclusion of proceedings, meaning the ruling could be delivered before the end of 2026.

Chidinma Ojukwu and the second defendant, Adedapo Quadri, have remained in custody since 2021 when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, her elder sister has continued to attend court proceedings while on bail.
