KANO TO ESTABLISH STATE-OWNED AIRLINE

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced plans to establish a state-owned commercial airline aimed at creating employment opportunities for trained pilots from the state.

Governor Yusuf made the disclosure during the 40th Executive Council Meeting at the Government House in Kano, where he received an award from the Kano State Pilot Association in recognition of his administration’s support for aviation training.

He said the proposed Kano Airline is expected to commence operations within the next year, adding that his administration would provide the necessary support to ensure the project’s successful take-off.

The Governor also praised the performance of Kano-sponsored pilots who underwent training in Jordan, reaffirming his commitment to creating opportunities for them to contribute to the growth of the aviation sector.

Chairman of the Kano State Pilot Association, Naziru Ibrahim, commended the Governor for facilitating the revalidation of members’ flying licences and appealed for further support to enable them obtain the certifications required to operate commercial flights within Nigeria and internationally.
