The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State has announced the suspension of a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Aliyu Gantsa, for 12 months over allegations of anti-party activities.
The suspension, which took effect on October 19, 2026, is expected to remain in force until October 19, 2027, unless overturned through the party’s internal disciplinary procedures.
The decision was communicated in a joint statement signed by Ahmad Garba, Polling Unit Chairman of Primary School, Gantsa Fada Yamma; Nasiru Garba Dan Halima, Gantsa Ward Chairman; and Isyaku Muhammad Lelenkudu, ADC Chairman in Buji Local Government Area.

According to the officials, the disciplinary action followed deliberations concerning party discipline, internal cohesion and compliance with established organisational procedures.
They stated that the Ward Executive Committee approved the suspension on October 5, while the Local Government Working Committee endorsed it on October 16.
The party officials accused Gantsa of engaging in activities allegedly capable of undermining the ADC’s interests and damaging its reputation.
They further alleged that he publicly supported an aspirant who lost the party’s primary election, rather than backing the candidates officially nominated by the ADC.
Under the announced disciplinary measures, Gantsa is prohibited from participating in party meetings, rallies, caucuses and other official activities at various levels of the organisation.
He is also expected to lose the privileges associated with his membership and party position for the duration of the suspension.
However, the officials stated that he could appeal the decision within 14 days of receiving formal notification.
Reacting to the development, Gantsa rejected the suspension, describing it as unconstitutional and lacking any legal effect.
He argued that officials at the polling unit and ward levels had no authority to suspend a serving member of the party’s National Working Committee.
Gantsa also accused the ADC’s state leadership of orchestrating the disciplinary action through lower-level party officials in an attempt to undermine his influence.

These allegations have not been independently established.
Despite the dispute, Gantsa maintained that he remained a committed member of the ADC and would pursue redress through the appropriate internal party structures.
The development highlights an emerging disagreement within the Jigawa chapter of the party over disciplinary authority and the procedures for sanctioning national officials.
The validity of the suspension remains contested, with no final determination by the party’s higher organs announced.
