Israeli forces have killed at least one Palestinian in Gaza, while another body has been recovered from the rubble of a destroyed building as casualties continue to be reported in the war-torn territory.
According to the Qatar News Agency, medical sources said Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza on Saturday.
The Gaza Ministry of Health also said on Sunday that hospitals received the bodies of two Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks, including one whose remains were recovered from beneath the rubble.
At least five other people, including children, were reportedly injured in Israeli attacks on Khan Younis and Rafah in southern Gaza.
Local sources said several people were wounded after an Israeli tank fired at tents housing displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis. A woman was reportedly critically injured in the attack.
In Rafah’s al-Mawasi coastal area, a girl sustained serious injuries following Israeli army fire, while Israeli artillery also shelled areas east of Khan Younis.
Several other people were wounded in the al-Mahatta area of Gaza City’s Tuffah neighbourhood following Israeli gunfire, according to local sources.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health said the death toll from Israel’s military campaign in the territory since October 2023 had reached 73,386, while 174,250 people had been wounded.
The ministry said the actual death toll could be higher because the remains of many Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks remain trapped beneath destroyed buildings. It added that ambulance teams and Palestinian Civil Defence personnel have been unable to reach many of those areas.
Since the ceasefire took effect in October, the ministry has recorded 1,258 deaths and 4,139 injuries from Israeli attacks, while 807 bodies have reportedly been recovered from the rubble.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel had rejected a 15-point Gaza peace proposal put forward by United States President Donald Trump.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Israeli forces would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas was “genuinely disarmed.”
The position followed a similar stance adopted by the US-led Board of Peace, which said an Israeli withdrawal would depend on Hamas completing its disarmament.
