At least five Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip, according to health officials.

Medics said two people were killed when an Israeli strike hit a crowd near a public park in Gaza City, an area sheltering displaced families. Several others were reportedly injured.

A separate air strike on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood of western Gaza City killed three people, health officials said.

The Israeli military said the strikes targeted Hamas fighters but did not provide further details.

The attacks come amid continued tensions despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October. Gaza’s Health Ministry said 1,313 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect.

The Palestinian Centre for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons said thousands of Palestinians remain missing and are believed to be dead under rubble.

Israel has reported the deaths of five soldiers and one civilian contractor since October.
