Iran has warned that Israel’s expanding military operations in Lebanon and continued attacks in Gaza could undermine ongoing ceasefire discussions with the United States, intensifying diplomatic tensions across the region.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said on Monday that Israel’s military actions in Lebanon, coupled with continued pressure on Iran through restrictions affecting Iranian ports, amount to violations of what Tehran describes as a ceasefire agreement.

“The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Araghchi stated in a social media post. He added that any breach in one area constitutes a broader violation and warned that Washington and Israel would bear responsibility for the consequences.

Echoing that position, Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Israel of escalating war crimes in Lebanon and linked the actions to what he described as US noncompliance with ceasefire commitments.

Their comments came as Israeli military operations intensified in southern Lebanon and displacement orders were issued for parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs, raising concerns over a wider regional confrontation.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump claimed he had intervened to reduce tensions, saying he held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and received assurances that Israeli forces would not continue advancing toward Beirut. Trump also claimed communications had taken place involving Hezbollah representatives, though details remain unclear.

Iranian state-linked reporting later indicated Tehran is also insisting on an end to Israeli military operations in Gaza before negotiations can continue. According to reports, Iranian officials have paused indirect communications with US counterparts until conditions on Gaza and Lebanon are addressed.

The developments highlight a widening disagreement over whether the Lebanon conflict should remain separate from broader negotiations involving Iran. Tehran maintains that any future agreement must include developments in Lebanon, while Washington has reportedly pursued separate discussions between Lebanese and Israeli officials.

The situation continues to evolve as regional actors exchange warnings amid growing concerns over escalation and the future of ceasefire talks.
