Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has claimed that its forces conducted nightly operations against vessels accused of violating Iranian regulations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Ali Mohammadi, political deputy of the IRGC Navy, disclosed in an interview with Iran’s Fars news agency, maintaining that Iranian forces exercise extensive surveillance and operational control over the strategic waterway.

Mohammadi said the IRGC Navy had maintained what he described as complete surveillance of the strait since the outbreak of the war involving Iran and the United States.

According to him, Iranian naval forces continue to undertake offensive and defensive operations and are prepared to act against vessels considered to be operating outside Tehran’s regulations.

He maintained that the operations could take place at any location within the strait, describing the measures as part of Iran’s efforts to enforce its maritime restrictions.

The Iranian official also challenged figures concerning oil shipments through the waterway, disputing estimates attributed to US President Donald Trump and other international sources.

Mohammadi rejected reported shipment volumes ranging from three million to eight million barrels, alleging that the figures were being circulated to influence global oil markets and reduce prices.

He further accused the United States of contributing to insecurity in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters, insisting that Iranian naval forces retained the capability to enforce Tehran’s position.

The claims come amid continuing military tensions between Washington and Tehran, with security in the Strait of Hormuz remaining a major concern for international shipping and energy markets.

The strait connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and serves as one of the world’s most important maritime routes for crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.

Disruptions to commercial navigation through the waterway could affect international energy supplies, shipping costs and global oil prices.

However, the IRGC Navy’s claims regarding nightly enforcement operations, the vessels involved, and the extent of Iranian control have not been independently verified.

Iranian authorities have maintained that their maritime operations are intended to protect national security interests, while tensions over navigation and military activities in the region continue.
