Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, says its forces have killed six people it described as members of a “terrorist group” allegedly preparing to carry out a bomb attack near Tehran.

The IRGC said the operation took place in Manjilabad, near the Iranian capital, as security forces continued operations against suspected armed groups amid heightened tensions in the country.

According to Iranian authorities, the six individuals were preparing a bombing operation when security forces moved against them.

The identities of those killed and their alleged affiliation were not immediately disclosed, while the IRGC’s account of the planned attack could not be independently verified.

The reported operation comes amid heightened security concerns in Iran following months of conflict and tensions involving Tehran, the United States and Israel.

Iranian authorities have repeatedly warned about possible attacks and what they describe as attempts by foreign-backed groups to destabilise the country.

Security operations have also been reported in other parts of Iran in recent weeks.

In August, the IRGC said security forces dismantled an armed group in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, killing one person and arresting six others.

The IRGC alleged that the group had links to the United States and Israel and was planning attacks on targets in the province. Those allegations were not independently established.

The latest security operation comes as diplomatic efforts continue alongside tensions between Iran and the United States.

Washington and Tehran have exchanged proposals through intermediaries as efforts continue to resolve outstanding disputes and prevent further escalation.

The situation remains fluid, with diplomatic negotiations and security developments continuing across the region.
