The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will on Tuesday, October 6, hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting as preparations for the 2027 general elections reach the 100-day milestone.
The meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, will provide updates on the commission’s preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The commission said the engagement forms part of efforts to maintain transparency, strengthen public communication and deepen collaboration with institutions and organisations involved in the conduct of the elections.
Political party leaders and security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security are expected to participate.

Members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are also expected at the meeting.
The engagement comes as preparations for the elections move into a crucial phase, with INEC expected to provide further information on its operational readiness and outstanding activities ahead of voting.
Under INEC’s timetable, the presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for February 20, 2027, while the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on March 6, 2027.
The commission is also scheduled to publish the official register of voters on January 11, 2027.
Other preparations cover election logistics, political party activities, candidate nominations, voter administration and measures aimed at protecting the credibility of the electoral process.
Attendance at Tuesday’s event will be strictly by invitation, with accredited journalists and guests required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.

INEC said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through its official social media platforms to enable Nigerians who cannot attend physically to follow the briefing.
