The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has congratulated cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, for emerging winners of the debate competition at the 2026 RIL Campus Crown Awards.
The cadets secured the top position after defeating contestants from various tertiary institutions across Kano State in a keenly contested intellectual competition.
The RIL Campus Crown Awards is a youth-focused initiative that provides students with opportunities to showcase their talents through debates, sports, leadership engagements, and other activities designed to promote critical thinking, teamwork, and responsible citizenship.

According to a statement, the Police Academy cadets distinguished themselves through exceptional analytical reasoning, eloquence, public speaking skills, and intellectual depth, earning the overall winner’s trophy.
Reacting to the achievement, IGP Disu described the victory as a testament to the quality of academic and leadership development programmes at the Academy. He noted that intellectual excellence remains a vital component of modern policing and commended the cadets for being worthy ambassadors of both the institution and the Nigeria Police Force.
The Inspector-General encouraged the cadets to sustain their commitment to excellence, discipline, and professionalism in all their endeavours.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, praised the victorious team for bringing honour to the institution. He said the achievement reflects the Academy’s dedication to producing well-rounded police officers equipped with the professional competence and intellectual capacity required for effective service to the nation.
