Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the constitution of a Bursary Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of the state’s bursary programme.
According to the governor, the committee is chaired by the Chairman of the Cross River State Scholarship Board, Professor Paul Itari, with Comrade Kelvin Enyam, Mr Matthew Ochiche and Comrade Abini Okoi serving as members, while Dr Emmanuel Duke will serve as Secretary.
Governor Otu said the committee has been mandated to develop a transparent bursary application process, design an efficient data collection and payment framework, engage relevant stakeholders, reduce administrative bottlenecks and recommend strategies that will ensure a credible, inclusive and accountable bursary administration system.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities and improving the welfare of students across the state, expressing confidence that the initiative would contribute to building a brighter future for Cross River youths.
