The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is underway, with filmmakers, actors, and content creators across the continent being recognised for outstanding achievements in film, television, and digital storytelling.
The annual awards ceremony, regarded as one of the biggest events in Africa’s entertainment industry, brought together leading figures from Nollywood and other African film industries for a night of glamour, competition, and celebration.
The event is airing across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, while also streaming on digital platforms including DStv Stream and GOtv Stream.
Among the early winners announced at the ceremony, Colours of Fire won the award for Best Costume Design through Valerie Okeke, while Warlord claimed Best Makeup, awarded to Hakeem Onilogbo, popularly known as Hakeem Effect.
Other major nominees across technical and storytelling categories included productions such as The Serpent’s Gift, Gingerrr, My Father’s Shadow, The Herd, and To Kill a Monkey.
In the Best Digital Content Creator category, creators including Taaoma and other digital storytellers received nominations for online productions that gained widespread popularity over the past year.
Top acting categories also featured some of Nollywood’s most recognised names. Nominees for Best Supporting Actress included Funke Akindele, Sola Sobowale, and Bisola Aiyeola.
In the Best Lead Actor category, actors such as Lateef Adedimeji, Wale Ojo, Femi Branch, and Uzor Arukwe were nominated for standout performances.
Meanwhile, the race for Best Movie featured strong contenders including Behind the Scenes, 3 Cold Dishes, The Herd, and Gingerrr.
The AMVCA continues to serve as a major platform recognising creativity, technical excellence, and storytelling innovation within Africa’s rapidly expanding entertainment industry.
