Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appealed to stakeholders and residents of the state to support the ongoing reconciliation efforts, stressing that sustainable peace is essential for meaningful development.
Fubara appealed while commissioning the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Centre and Engineering Faculty Building at the institution’s Rumuola campus in Port Harcourt.

The governor said the reconciliation process should be supported by all parties, noting that continued peace and stability would create the right environment for the state to achieve its development objectives.
Speaking on the significance of the newly commissioned facilities, Fubara said the project was designed to equip students with entrepreneurial and technical skills that would enable them to become self-reliant.
He noted that graduates should not depend solely on government employment but should be adequately trained to create opportunities for themselves and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
According to the governor, the project was also consistent with the core mandate of polytechnics, which is to develop skilled manpower through practical and technical education.
He added that his administration would continue to support initiatives that improve education and develop the human capacity required to drive development across Rivers State.

Facilities to enhance practical training
The Commissioner for Works, Dr Nwagor Peters, said the project was equipped with the necessary facilities to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Peters said the infrastructure would strengthen technical education at the polytechnic and provide students with an environment conducive to acquiring relevant professional and entrepreneurial skills.
