Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his commitment to the “Rivers First” philosophy, describing it as the guiding principle behind the policies and programmes of his administration over the last three years.

In a goodwill message marking the third anniversary of his administration, the governor stated that prioritising the interests and well-being of Rivers people above every other consideration has remained his major focus in the last 36 months.

Governor Fubara explained that the huge investments made by his administration in road infrastructure were aimed at connecting rural communities with urban centres and opening up economic opportunities across the state.

According to him, the vision of transforming Rivers State into a major investment hub informed the execution of key projects including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, Trans-Kalabari Highway, Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road, among others.

The governor further disclosed that his administration had also worked to strengthen the education and healthcare sectors while prioritising peace and security throughout the state.

Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the people of Rivers State for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the state, assuring them that he would continue to ensure that public funds are used for the public good.

He attributed the achievements recorded by his administration to the cooperation, resilience, resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit of Rivers people.

The governor acknowledged that more work still needed to be done and urged elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, farmers, artisans and professionals across the state to continue contributing their quota towards the development of Rivers State.

He also congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, describing it as the longest period of civil rule since independence.

According to him, the sustained democratic experience demonstrates that Nigeria’s diverse ethnic nationalities can coexist peacefully despite differences and continue to move forward together.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ngozi Nma Odu, has congratulated Governor Fubara on the third anniversary of his administration as well as the 59th anniversary of the creation of Rivers State.

In a statement issued from Government House, Port Harcourt, Professor Odu described Governor Fubara as a compassionate leader whose commitment to improving the lives of Rivers people remains remarkable.

She noted that since assuming office, the governor has deliberately implemented policies and programmes that have positively impacted residents, especially the less privileged.

According to the deputy governor, the continued support enjoyed by Governor Fubara from Rivers people is a reflection of the administration’s people-oriented approach to governance.

Professor Odu also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Governor Fubara and Rivers State as the state marks both the administration’s third anniversary and the 59th anniversary of the state’s creation.
