Former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris has been laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja following the arrival of his remains from the United Kingdom, where he died on Sunday at the age of 77.
The burial drew family members, political leaders, government officials and associates who gathered in the Federal Capital Territory to pay their final respects to the former governor.
Among those present were Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and former governors Yahaya Bello and Idris Wada.
Idris served as governor of Kogi State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He was first elected in 2003 and later returned to office following a fresh election in 2008, remaining governor until January 2012.
His burial in Abuja marked the conclusion of funeral rites following the return of his remains to Nigeria.
