A 34-year-old woman in Fort Myers has been taken into custody following an on-field altercation at a youth football game, where she is accused of kicking a minor during a chaotic brawl.

Authorities identified the suspect as Renee Lynn Lambert, who was booked on suspicion of cruelty to a child without great bodily harm and resisting an officer, according to a report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Brooks Park, where deputies responded after reports of a large fight breaking out in the middle of a youth football game. According to Sheriff’s Detective Nicholas Cittadino, multiple parents rushed onto the field in an attempt to break up the altercation.

Witnesses told investigators they saw Lambert repeatedly kicking a juvenile male during the melee. Authorities said she was quickly identified by bystanders as a suspect while attempting to leave the scene.

Body camera footage obtained by media outlets captured the tense moments leading to her arrest. In the video, Lambert is heard insisting she acted in self-defence.

“So are you mad at them for hitting me?” she asked deputies.

An officer responded:

“I’m mad at an adult for attacking a kid. Stop, you’re detained right now.”

Lambert resisted, telling officers, “No, I’m not. Goodbye,” before a brief struggle ensued as deputies attempted to restrain her.

During the exchange, she continued to argue that she had been struck first, reportedly pointing to a player wearing a No. 9 jersey as the alleged aggressor.

However, at least one witness, identified in the report as Andre Valdes, corroborated the juvenile’s account, stating that the boy was on the ground when Lambert kicked him.

Deputies eventually placed Lambert in handcuffs as she continued to protest her detention.

“She’s detained because they said you hit a kid,” an officer is heard saying in the footage.
“And the kid hit me!” Lambert replied.

Authorities have not disclosed the extent of any injuries sustained during the incident. Efforts to reach Lambert for comment following her arrest were unsuccessful.
