Five people and several domestic animals have been found dead on a rural property in Washington County, Oregon, in what authorities described as a complex investigation.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker as the suspect in the killings.

Information gathered from authorities said officers later found Parker dead inside his vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington. Investigators believe he died by suicide.

The sheriff’s office said detectives do not believe the killings were random and believe Parker was known to the victims.

Authorities were initially called to the rural property on Saturday morning following a report of a vehicle fire in an unincorporated area outside Forest Grove.

Sheriff’s deputies and fire personnel who arrived at the scene discovered the bodies of five people and several domestic animals.

Investigators are still working to confirm the identities of the victims and determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey described the scene as unusually complex, noting that it involved a large rural property surrounded by vegetation and other homes.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public as investigations continue.
